Rationalization and world domination
Between membership in Behavioral Science Association, conference attendance fees, airfare, and four nights in a hotel, my wallet is screaming for mercy as the Shylocks at the credit card company laugh menacingly and dream of the day they'll get that pound of flesh. (Not to mention what I'm going to have to pay if Major Psychology Association doesn't come through with financial aid for that summer program...)But I'm so looking forward to both the conference and the summer program. I guess I'll worry about the bills later, especially since I don't have too much in the way of educational costs. Going into serious debt for something you really love can't be all bad, right? After all, people spend thousands of dollars on weddings and having and raising children. I'll just pretend that I'm funneling the money I'm saving by not doing either of those things into professional development. There! Conflict resolved. I don't feel nearly as guilty anymore for spending all this money I don't have.
P.S. See the button down in the sidebar? It is fully functional, and I expect you all to go and donate some weapons of mass destruction to me if you haven't done so already.
