Have you ever...

gotten so involved in working on something that you actually forgot you had class? Because I just did, and it sucks.

I'm worried about other things--I have a test tomorrow, a paper and a quiz due this week, a test coming up next week, and relatives in the hospital--and I'm trying frantically to get everything done so I can go home and see them this weekend (and have my birthday party, but that's beside the point :) ). I also have an hour-and-a-half gap from the time I leave lab to the time I have to be in my next class. And I know I get absorbed when I'm working on a paper, but I started anyway, and promptly forgot all about class. It's the first class I've ever actually skipped (I neglected to go to one last semester because I was sick and there was a huge ice storm, so I neglected to check for myself after being told classes were cancelled until 11 simply because I didn't want to go out, but half the class didn't show up either, so it doesn't count).

I actually called the professor to apologize and told her about the situation. As it turned out, she and the entire class were more worried about me than I was about missing class, which was actually kind of amusing. One of my roommates is in the same class, so I can get the notes from her, and I can talk to one of the TAs if I don't understand the assignment. And I've now programmed my computer to remind me when I have classes that aren't one right after another, so hopefully that will take care of everything and this will never happen again. But I still feel terrible about it!

Wow, I skip classes all the time. Like, for instance, this morning, when I woke up at 9:15 for my 9:00 class.

Thank you, Chris! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who missed class today!

Bummer! I hate missing classes, too. I'm amazed that the prof and the rest of the class noticed you were missing and became worried. That's so the opposite here. I ususally get excited when people decide to show up for my class. Whoo, hoo! :)

I'm going to a conference next week and I'm going to tell one of my profs not to do anything fun and informative while I'm away. hehehe...hmmm, maybe that won't go over as well as I think...
