A thorny situation

So, I was randomly browsing the sex offender registry tonight. I do this regularly to see which creeps to watch out for on the street. And I think I just saw a listing for Weirdo Friend's fiancé. He looks like I remember him, and his birthday and first name are the same (I never remember his last name).

What is the etiquette in this situation? Weirdo Friend and I often go extended periods without seeing each other, and she never returns voicemails or emails, so our communications are infrequent at best, but we still consider each other friends. So the next time we see each other, do I pretend I don't know? Preemptively offer her some support? Pretend I'm shocked? (He always struck me as a pervert, but while I recall telling her so before they started dating, she probably doesn't remember this.) I have no idea what to do in a situation like this. (Of course, you, my respectable bloggy friends, probably have no idea either!)

Does it say why he is on the sex offender registry? Some people get on there for ridiculous stuff, like streaking in college or being 18 and having sex with a 17 year old. So while he might have done something awful, he might have done something relatively harmless.

As for whether you should bring it up, I have no idea.. it's hard to say when you don't know someone well.

Honestly? I was too afraid to click!

I went back and checked, and you're right, it's relatively minor. Still something I'd break an engagement over, but she probably wouldn't. So I'll try to contact her and wait to see if she offers the information.
