I've been preparing packets to give to the professors who are ever-so-kindly writing my letters of recommendation. And all I have to say is that actually getting all this stuff in the right places, to the correct people, and having it all done in plenty of time is a serious testament to my organizational and time-management skills, not to mention how much I really want this damn PhD. Some program sure as hell had better accept me after all this.
I also got my recommenders each a nice pen and made cookies to go with their thank-you notes. Is that enough? Or should I be offering them more?

Wow. I'll write a letter for a pen and cookie. :) Having asked for and written a couple, I think a thank you note or email is all most people do. So you're well beyond that.
It also is a pain to get everything in order. But it's exciting to hear about your progress. Good luck!!

That's plenty, and very nice. We don't expect anything ... it's our job!
Good luck. :)

Thanks! I really didn't want to be the person who gave the worst bribes, um, I mean gifts.
