The first Thanksgiving

The wedding wasn't exactly as we had hoped, but it went better than it would have had we followed the original plan. Except for the part where the best man and his girlfriend got snowed in here in Ciudad del Agua and ended up spending the night in our apartment with us. Oh well.

Anyway, last year, Guy Friday and I had our first date just before Thanksgiving, and spent Christmas with our respective families. So this really was the first major holiday I've spent with the spankin'-new in-laws.

"So, kids, what are you thankful for today?"
Oldest Niece: "Mashed potatoes!"
Two more nieces and a nephew: "Pie!"
Super Cool Awesome Nephew: "That our whole family is together today."

Way to show 'em up, kid. You rock.

Guy Friday's very pregnant little sister: "So it's a girl, and I'm going to name it either [name Psychobunny and Guy Friday absolutely love], or [insert several other names here]."
Psychobunny: "Well, if you pick [Name], there will eventually be two of them. Because my daughter will be having that name. We already decided that we don't care if y'all have to call them [Name]1 and [Name]2, or Old [Name] and Young [Name]." (or Stupid, Ugly [Name] and [Our Name], I thought, smiling)
LS: "But... you CAN'T repeat a name in a family! You are not allowed to do that! I won't let you!"
Psychobunny: "Well then, I guess we're not going to see you and the baby very often then, eh?"
LS: "Fine. You win. I'll name her something else."

Hee hee. This, only a couple of months after she told me that the only way I was getting that name was to get pregnant before she had the baby. Not gonna happen. And now I get my own way anyway. How the will of the only child always prevails. Quite sweet for me. :)

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all. And off to bed with me very soon.
