I must be nesting or something
Today I just really feel like cooking. But we had a bad snowstorm last night and we can't get out to go get groceries. We're completely out of milk and bread, and we have very few eggs left. We've never bothered to get baking soda or powder, and we have none of the more traditional cookie ingredients. So far, I've used one egg to make a package of mint chocolate brownies we've had for a while, and replenished our bread supply via a lucky find of bread dough in the freezer. I've pulled a package of pork chops out of the freezer to make for supper with some herbed potatoes. We didn't really need anything else, but I still felt like cooking.
So I made up a recipe for some ingredients we had on hand, and it's really good, so I just had to share:
1 cup honey (corn syrup would work if you don't want botulism spores in your food)
1 cup white sugar
2 squares chocolate-flavored almond bark
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 cup water
2 cups crunchy peanut butter
Honey Nut Cheerios
Total (cornflakes would also work, but we didn't have any)
In large saucepan, combine honey, sugar, almond bark, salt, and water. Boil over low-medium heat, stirring constantly. When boiling, add peanut butter and stir until melted through mixture, then remove from heat. Stir in equal parts Honey Nut Cheerios and Total until mixture is completely absorbed. Spread cereal mixture on a greased cookie sheet with sides and place in refrigerator until cool enough to cut into pieces.

Sounds really good! Though, as I'm not a fan of almond bark, I'd be using chocolate. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait on this, as we're all out of those cereals!
