Beware the long post!
So, this has been a productive weekend so far. First, I finished a short paper on Friday in the hour I had between classes and managed to go grocery shopping and to cook. Then, it turned out that the paper for the Online Class From Hell is worth 50 extra credit points. In a class that's graded on a curve. And the extra credit is figured in before the curve. So basically, I had no choice but to finish it.
But Karen gave me a great idea in her comment on my last post: partial credit for a partial paper. See, the professor didn't give us any guidelines other than the number of pages. No set number of references, but more importantly, no specification that the paper was to be 12 pages of text. So I have a cover sheet, an abstract page, multiple levels of headings, four pages of reference citations, and it's all written in the largest font acceptable for use in APA style. And it's 13 pages. :)
It's a dirty trick, and not something I would ordinarily do, but this is the professor who gave me a C on the paper in the last class I had with him because his grader took off a point for every word she had to look up. (I mean, it's not obvious from how I write blog posts, but I love to write, and my writing is My Baby. I very much appreciate criticism when it's meant to improve my work, but an illiterate grader? Not my problem.) And I'm still a bit peeved that he suddenly decided to post everything all at once after the Month of Silence. And hey, it's extra credit. I know most people aren't planning to do the paper, so I'll come out high in the curve.
Now I'm working on another paper for my film critique class. And I'm simply amazed how quickly it's going. I despise the song Karma Chameleon because it sticks in my head so easily. But it was running through my head, and I needed to listen to it to make it go away so I could concentrate. Once I started listening though, I noticed I can write much more quickly to its beat than I can to that of any other song. Seriously. Try it sometime. :)
What's next? Studying for a couple of tests I have coming up, finishing more assignments for the Online Class From Hell, working on my research report, laundry, and maybe a movie if I can squeeze it in.
Wishing all of you a productive weekend as well. Or, you know, a relaxing weekend if that's your thing. :)
